Hello, Kell Longhorn Football family, friends and neighbors!
It is that time of year, once again! Our Kell Longhorn Football team has practiced, sweat and persevered through the summer and the 2020 season is upon us.
Please allow me to (re) introduce myself, I am Dr. John T. Duke. This year will be my 8th year serving as the Kell Football - Team Doctor of Chiropractic. It is an honor and distinct pleasure to serve the Kell Longhorn Nation.
My background includes, providing care for high school, collegiate, world class and professional athletes. I hold National and State Board certification as a Doctor of Chiropractic, Master’s Degree in Sport Medicine & Exercise Physiology. As well as, having completed (4) post-graduate certifications in Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation, and Motor Vehicle Acceleration/Deceleration Injuries. I completed post-Doctorate certification in Whiplash - Spinal Trauma I, II (Dr. Dan Murphy, DABCO), 1998-1999. From 1995-2001, I had the opportunity to serve under the training of Dr. Jim Hovey – Head Chiropractor to the Atlanta Falcons - providing care as an Assistant Chiropractor for the Atlanta Falcons. During the 1996 Olympic Games, I was selected to be one of the doctors providing care for world class and Olympic athletes here in Atlanta. In 1998, I was selected by LIFE University to provide care for the athletes at the 1998 NAIA National Championship Games. From 1997-2001, I served Etowah High School as their team Doctor of Chiropractic and have practiced in the Cobb and Cherokee area the past 25 years. Last year, I completed another 150 hours post-Doctorate from The Spine Research Institute of San Diego (SRISD), Dr. Arthur Croft, Advanced Practice of Motor Vehicle Collison Diagnosis, Cervical Acceleration-Deceleration Injury and Treatment.
The primary purpose of care for Kell athletes is to optimize each athlete’s Health, Balance and Athletic Performance. A basic tenet throughout the body (Kinetic Chain) is:
“proper structure dictates proper function.” Another very basic tenet: purveys that the brain and nervous system is the master controlling system of the body. The brain and nervous system are housed in the spine and skull – these areas receive stressors training for and playing sports, particularly football. As proper structure dictates proper function, it will be the chief objective to maintain/correct/restore proper bodily function. This will be achieved through spinal adjustments and/or extremity manipulation as deemed necessary.
All the professional services that I provide to your child/athlete at the school are complimentary/free of charge. In order to utilize these services a one (1) time complimentary office visit by player and parent will be required for a full examination (including orthopedic, neurological and visceral exams), to determine if your student is a good candidate for care.
